What is the CMI-CCP Certification?
The CMI's Claims Consulting Professional certification is aimed at those interested in handling lawsuits or other disputes in the construction industry. The program is designed to help those new to the field build and develop professional skills to boost their consulting career. The program is also aimed at those who are already professionals but wish to augment their professional profile with a valid certification. Claims consultants can be responsible for claims avoidance, management of claims, dispute management resolution, forensic delay analysis, and quantum analysis. They will also be involved in documenting claims. Certified CMI-CCPs are qualified to work with contractors, subcontractors, and clients to resolve disputes such as delays, disruptions, suspensions, and terminations. CMI-CCPs may also work with contractors who ask for work extensions and/or extra cost. How to Obtain the CMI-CCP Certification
There are several different steps required in order to earn CMI-CCP certification. Firstly, you must apply for a student membership. Once you are a student member you are then able to study the program, delivered via live online lectures. Within each program there is four courses, each followed by an open-book online exam, given by CMI. After passing the test (50 percent and above is a passing score) you will be offered the opportunity to upgrade to Regular Membership and obtain your certification.
Examination Information
- With each course within the program you will be required to take an exam. The open-book online exam includes four questions that will assess your understanding of the course outcomes as well as test your ability to handle claims and disputes by asking how you would handle several real-life scenarios. Each exam will determine if you are ready for work as a claims consulting professional.
Course Information
Because the program is a professional practice-based program, you will not be assessed on your academic ability as much as the skills you’ve developed and how they translate into real-world work experiences. - There are no set eligibility requirements for CMI-CCP certification
- If you do not meet the eligibility requirements for Expert and Master levels, then having the FSP certification is necessary before pursuing those more advanced levels.
- You must also adhere to CMI’s Principles of Ethics.

Payment
With regards to payment, you have two options. You can pay the full amount in one lump sum payment or by our monthly direct debit payment plan. Please see below for fees: -
- Total fee - $1,584.00 ($327.00 savings than monthly payment plan); or
- Monthly direct debit plan - Upfront fee of $273 and a monthly direct debit of $273 for 6 consecutive months (from Month 1 to Month 6 – total 6 payments). You will pay $1,911 ($247 x 7 payments) if you choose a monthly payment plan.

Membership Renewal
Your CMI-CCP certification is valid for three years, and can be renewed every three years by taking a CEU (Continuing Education Unit). Additional Information
- • The enrollment of the program and exams is valid for maximum of 3 years from the first payment made, the course must be completed in this time period.
- • Applying for regular membership once you have passed the exam is compulsory to receive the certificate.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the program? The duration of the program will be 6 months. This will include live lectures, but you will be required to complete some independent study throughout the program also. Can I follow the program if I work full-time? Yes, the program is flexible and offered through live online lectures. The lectures will be scheduled at weekends meaning you can take the program and work full-time. If you miss any of the live lectures you can catch up the following day as lectures will be uploaded on our LMS (study portal). How is the program delivered? The program is delivered through live online lectures and a study portal with lecture slides and supplementary materials. You can access the program from anywhere in the world if you have internet access along with a computer or a tablet. You will be able to ask your lecturer questions by voice or chat during the lecture or afterwards. How do I apply? You can apply online in as little as three minutes, and will be enrolled as soon as your Program Manager has reviewed your application and the payment is received. You will be required to participate in an online ID Verification check before you receive your certification, where your Program Manager will confirm your identity.
